Glacial Environments and Processes

Glaciers are bodies of moving ice and meltwater. Glaciers have the capacity to shape the land, moving large amounts of sediment, carving valleys, sculpting mountains, and creating many glacial landforms. Glacial landforms are found in the earth’s glaciated areas, atop the world’s highest mountain ranges, and in other regions such as Antarctica and Greenland.

This A-Level Glacial Environments and Processes module will enable students to:

  • Identify different glacial processes.
  • Determine how glacial processes shape glacial landforms and landscapes.
  • Understand how glacial environments change over time.
  • Understand how climate affects glacial environments.
  • Identify the effects of human activity on glacial environments and processes.
  • Recognise the importance of our planet’s glacial environments.
