Tropical Environments

Tropical rainforests are located in warm climates between the latitudes of 23.5°N (Tropic of Cancer) and 23.5°S (Tropic of Capricorn) closer to the equator. This region receives a lot of sunlight, only slight seasonal variations, and year-round rainfall.

At the end of the lesson, students will be able to:

  • Describe what a tropical environment is;
  • Understand the interrelationships of all living things present in a tropical environments;
  • Appreciate how animals and plants adapt to their habitat;
  • Explain the factors of biodiversity of tropical environments;
  • Explain the importance of tropical environments to the Earth;
  • Examine the current environmental issues that threaten the ecosystem;
  • Outline proposals or campaigns to protect biodiversity; and
  • Present the recommended proposal or campaigns to others.
