Human Health

Traditionally, human development is being measured using the growth of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP), which is defined as the monetary value of all finished goods and services produced within a country during a specific period. However, the focus of human development has shifted towards improving quality of life, environmental quality, life expectancy, human health, and human rights.

This A-Level Human Health module will enable students to:

  • Discuss the relationship between human health and development;
  • Describe how varied human health and life expectancy is around the world;
  • Explain how human geography is relevant in understanding disease spread and mortality;
  • Identify the factors that lead to increase in health risks; and
  • Discuss how health risks are being managed
