Mineral Management

Minerals are naturally-occurring substances that can be used to create a variety of industrial products. They can be everywhere in modern-day society– from the concrete foundations for buildings to the chips and motherboards found within gadgets and appliances.

This ​A-Level Mineral Management module will enable students to:​

  • Understand the importance of mineral resources
  • Know the difference between mineral resources and mineral reserves
  • Describe the situations that lead to mineral security and mineral insecurity
  • Have an understanding of how minerals are distributed globally
  • Identify the factors that affect the mineral supply
  • Understand the implications of mineral consumption, extraction, and demand on the environment
  • Know the importance of sustainable approaches for the management of mineral resources.
