China Place Studies
China is a significant place of study in KS3 Geography curriculum. The curriculum aims to provide students with comprehensive understanding of the geographical features, both physical and human, of China. As the fourth largest country in the world, China provides exciting examples of physical characteristics including mountains, plateaus and deserts, a varied climate, and its experience of various natural hazards including earthquakes, typhoons, floods, droughts, sandstorms, landslides, erosion, and forest fires. From a human geography perspective, China is one of the most populous countries in the world. Since the late 20th century, there have been significant changes to rural vs. urban populations, urbanisation, and the challenges that accompany it like overcrowding, air pollution and resources management.
This KS3 China Place Studies module will enable students to:
- Describe China’s physical geography, climate, landforms, and natural features.
- Describe China’s human geography, people, culture, and history.
- Know how China collaborates with the international community through science, technology, and trade.
- Understand how China takes care of its large population.
- Describe Tibet’s geography, its people, culture, and history.
- Know how China has undergone rapid development.
