Money
The study of money is a crucial part of the KS3 geography curriculum. Students learn that money is an essential part of any economic system. By studying money, students can gain a deeper understanding of different economic systems and how they influence the distribution of resources and wealth. In addition, students also get to know more about global inequality as they get better understanding of disparities between different countries and regions and the contributing factors that lead to them. Getting to know money better allows students to examine development indicators, such as GNI per capita, and how money is distributed within a country. Students also gain better understanding of the impact of globalisation and real-world issues linked to money that affect everyone's daily lives.
This KS3 Money module will enable students to:
- Define the term "money" and explore its various forms
- Understand the essential functions of money
- Understand the historical evolution of money
- Explain the impact of globalization on the concept of money
- Understand how the circulation of money influences economic activities at local, national, and global levels
