Globalisation

Learning about globalisation is important for KS3 Geography students because it helps them make sense of the increasingly interconnected world around them. By defining globalisation, students gain a foundational understanding of how countries, people, and businesses are linked through trade, technology, and communication.
Exploring how globalisation has progressed over the decades provides historical context and shows how advances in transport, communication, and political decisions have shaped the modern global landscape. Understanding the factors that have contributed to the increase in globalisation encourages students to think critically about how and why these global connections have grown.

Studying the social, economic, and cultural impacts of globalisation helps students appreciate the benefits, such as increased cultural exchange and access to goods, while also recognising the downsides, like cultural erosion or worker exploitation.

This KS3 Globalisation module will enable students to:

  • Define globalisation.
  • Know how globalisation has progressed over the decades.
  • Determine the factors that contributed to the increase in globalisation
  • Understand why Transnational Corporations locate themselves in emerging economies.
  • Know the social, economic, and cultural impacts of globalisation.
  • Know how globalisation causes certain inequalities.
